The revolution of 1956 was a nation wide protest. All over Hungary, in cities like Debrecen, Pécs or Győr the revolution was going on. Of course the main protests were in Budapest near the Budapest parliament. But all over Hungary the riots were violent and long lasting.
The difference to Budapest was that in the countryside or in other cities than Budapest the police force and Soviet army was not as present as in the capital. But these fights were as brutal as in Budapest. Nevertheless the demonstrations were led by the ones in the capital. When the new Soviet government was installed the rest of Hungary fell as well.
